The Rehearsal Process
You may hear often that shows can not be mounted without a great production team. I have to tell you, for the PlayMakers run we worked with the best of the best! Liz made coming to play worth every moment of missed blocking, lyrics, and lines, and band restarts She was a constant cheerleader while also a “take no prisoners” leader of the ship. If I wanted to work more, she would kick me off stage for a break. If I was slow from break…wait, I was never slow from break. But if I thought about something or the band needed something, she had already thought of it and magically made things appear. What I loved most was the sign-in boards with positive quotes from Nina Simone or her contemporaries and Liz’s attention to detail.
